Growth is slow for manufacturing roles here
Pros: You'll get really good at your specific tasks, especially in CNC machining. The work environment is stable, and they use decent equipment. It's a reliable job in the Penang office.
Cons: Career growth for a CNC Machinist is really limited. There aren't many opportunities to move up or learn new advanced skills beyond your current role. You can feel a bit stuck in the machining industry.
Advice to Management: Create more clear paths for career progression for manufacturing roles. Invest in cross-training or advanced skill development programs to keep employees engaged and allow for internal promotions.

Okay Pay, But Not Much Growth Here
Pros: As a CNC Programmer, the starting salary was decent for a manufacturing company in Penang. They do offer basic medical benefits, which is a plus for new hires.
Cons: Raises are almost non-existent; I didn't get one in two years working in production. The annual bonus for experienced machine operators feels pretty small and doesn't motivate anyone.
Advice to Management: Please establish a clearer, performance-based system for annual raises. Higher bonuses would really help retain skilled production staff and improve morale.

Work-Life Balance is a Mixed Bag Here
Pros: As a Manufacturing Engineer, the core hours for this onsite role are usually okay. You can generally manage your personal life if there aren't urgent production schedules. It's a stable mid-sized company in the precision machining industry, so there's some predictability.
Cons: Work-life balance can definitely suffer when we hit tight production schedules. Expect mandatory overtime for manufacturing operations, especially near deadlines. It's tough to get real work flexibility when projects are pushing, and sometimes you just can't leave on time.
Advice to Management: Try to plan better for peak periods to reduce unexpected overtime. Investing in more staff for critical functions could really help ease the pressure on existing Manufacturing Engineer roles.
