Pay is solid, but benefits are just okay

Pros: As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, the starting salary was actually pretty competitive for the local M&E consulting sector. They do provide a basic medical card, which is standard for firms in Kuala Lumpur, so that's a plus.
Cons: Don't expect huge annual bonuses; they vary a lot year to year, which is tough. Other benefits like dental or vision coverage are pretty minimal, definitely not a strong point for a mid-sized engineering firm.
Advice to Management: Review the overall benefits package to be more competitive. Better dental or retirement contributions would really help attract and keep talent in the M&E sector long-term. Show more

Okay place for early M&E careers

Pros: As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, I learned a lot about basic HVAC and plumbing systems in the Kuala Lumpur projects. They don't throw you in too deep, which is good for starting out. You get decent exposure to real-world M&E installations.
Cons: Career growth is really slow. There's not much structure for promotion or skill development beyond the basics. I felt stuck doing the same tasks for too long as an onsite engineer.
Advice to Management: Create clearer career paths and offer more training opportunities for junior staff. Invest in developing specialized skills for your mechanical and electrical engineering team. Show more
