Retail Associate

Solid place for consistent retail hours
Pros: You get pretty consistent hours here as a Retail Associate. My scheduled shifts in the Chicago, IL store rarely changed, which is good for planning. It's a pretty stable company in the retail industry, so I didn't worry much about my job day-to-day.
Cons: Growth opportunities felt super limited, especially for entry-level positions. It's hard to move up if you're not in management already. There's not much room for promotion, which kinda impacts long-term job security if you want more.
Advice to Management: Try to create more clear paths for career progression for associates. People want to see a future here, not just a job.

Decent benefits, but pay could be better for retail.
Pros: The health insurance was surprisingly solid for a corporate retail company, and they had a decent 401k match after a year. It's an onsite role, so you're always interacting with your team and customers, which I liked.
Cons: The base salary for Assistant Store Manager roles didn't really keep up with the cost of living in Dallas, TX. Even with hitting our sales targets, the bonuses weren't enough to make a big difference, which was tough for retail operations.
Advice to Management: Look at increasing the base pay for key retail roles like Assistant Store Managers. It would help with retention and morale for those of us on the front lines.

Decent for retail, but expect weekend shifts.
Pros: I got pretty consistent hours, usually around 35-40 hours a week, which is good for retail operations. The team at our Chicago Loop location was supportive.
Cons: Work-life balance here is tough with mandatory weekend shifts and last-minute schedule changes. It's hard to plan anything outside of work when your schedule for customer service can change suddenly.
Advice to Management: Try to give more stable schedules, especially for weekend shifts. It would really help with employee morale and retention in frontline retail.
