Company Overviews

Crosslinked is a free job board for polymer, materials science, and chemical
engineering professionals.

Openings are gathered daily from across major job boards and company career
pages, then read and tagged so you can filter on the things that actually decide
whether a role is worth your time: salary range, degree level, years of
experience, visa sponsorship, security clearance, work arrangement, and the
specific materials, characterization techniques, and software the job calls for.

Most job boards let you search a title and a city. This one lets you ask for
entry-level formulation roles at companies that have sponsored H-1B before, or
every open position involving DSC and rheology within a hundred miles, and get an
answer.

You also get salary benchmarks by degree, role, and industry, drawn from what
employers are actually advertising rather than from self-reported surveys. Only
about half of listings disclose pay at all, so seeing the real distribution
before you interview is worth something.

Built and maintained by a materials science PhD student, originally because the
tools for finding this kind of work were bad and nobody was going to build a
better one for a field this size. It is free for job seekers, and it stays that
way.

Good place to work with room for improvement
Pros: The team at Crosslinked is fantastic – very supportive and knowledgeable. I've learned a lot about cloud technologies and agile development methodologies. The company culture encourages innovation, and there's a genuine sense of camaraderie among colleagues. Management is generally approachable, and there's a good amount of autonomy in day-to-day tasks for developers.
Cons: While the base pay is decent, it doesn't always keep pace with market rates for similar roles in the IT sector, especially considering the cost of living. The benefits package is standard but could offer more comprehensive health options or better retirement matching. Some processes feel a bit bureaucratic, slowing down project delivery slightly.
Advice to Management: Consider benchmarking salaries more aggressively and explore enhancing the benefits package to retain top talent. Streamlining some internal approval processes could also boost efficiency.

Good place to grow, but expect busy periods
Pros: I've found Crosslinked to be a great place for career advancement, particularly if you're in a technical role like software engineering or data analysis. They offer a lot of challenging projects that help you build your resume. The remote work setup for this position has been excellent, making it easy to manage personal commitments alongside professional ones. The company culture is generally collaborative and open.
Cons: While growth is supported, sometimes the pace can be demanding, leading to occasional longer hours, especially around project deadlines. Communication between departments, while improving, could sometimes be more streamlined to avoid minor hiccups in cross-functional tasks. Some team members feel more resources could be allocated to professional development workshops.
Advice to Management: Consider enhancing cross-departmental communication protocols and ensuring project timelines are realistic, perhaps by distributing resources more evenly. Also, exploring more robust professional development funding would be beneficial.

Good Learning Environment with Room for Leadership Growth
Pros: The best part of working at Crosslinked has been the opportunity for continuous learning and skill development. The teams are generally supportive, and there's a real sense of camaraderie. I appreciate the flexibility offered, which allows for a decent work-life balance. Management is approachable and open to feedback, fostering a generally positive company culture.
Cons: While leadership is present, more consistent strategic vision and clearer communication about long-term goals would be beneficial for the engineering department. Sometimes, project prioritization can feel a bit reactive, leading to increased workload during critical sprints. Streamlining approval processes could also enhance team efficiency.
Advice to Management: Focus on enhancing proactive strategic communication from leadership to all teams. Clearly articulate long-term objectives and how current projects align with them. Also, consider optimizing project management workflows to better handle fluctuating workloads, particularly during high-demand periods, to reduce employee stress and improve overall project predictability.
