This position is responsible for the overall planning, development, and oversight of the Trauma Injury Prevention Program as well as trauma education for the Adult Trauma Programs at Albany Medical Center. The objectives of the program are to educate AMC staff and the community about injury prevention and trauma care.
Hourly Range: $35.81 - 59.09
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist Trauma Program Manager with development and implementation of injury prevention programs
- Serve as a resource for trauma care and injury prevention education to nursing staff, pre-hospital personnel, and community groups
- Conduct community education programs for diverse populations and coordinate responses to requests for injury prevention information
- Collaborate with other departments within the institution on programs for trauma education and injury prevention, including Emergency Department, EMS Outreach, and Rehabilitation services
- Serves as the lead trauma program coordinator overseeing screening and brief intervention (SBIRT)
- Develop and maintain a public presence for the prevention program
- Develop brochures, audiovisual aids, and presentation handouts as necessary
- Act as a spokesperson for injury and trauma prevention issues
- Act as a liaison to other hospitals and community groups for trauma prevention and outreach
- Identify, pursue, and obtain sources of program support and/or grant funding
- Establish and implement strategies for continuous improvement
- Plan and coordinate Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses
- Organize and facilitate the annual Trauma Symposium
- Maintain organized documentation of trauma education and injury prevention activities related to the Albany Med Trauma Program
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in health-related profession - required
- 1-3 years of job-related experience - required
- Familiarity with trauma system design and function - preferred
- Background and experience in health education/outreach - preferred
- Prior experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of community-based programs - preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Strong media relations skills
- High comfort level with public speaking
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Work with others to accomplish a task or goal or find a solution
- Flexible in work practices, procedures, and/or processes
- Work independently as well as with diverse groups and teams
- Possess effective time management skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Manage time effectively to complete job responsibilities
