Project Engineer

Decent Pay, Benefits are Standard for HDB
Pros: You get pretty stable medical benefits and a decent amount of annual leave, which is nice. For a government sector job, the pay package as a Project Engineer is solid enough to get by.
Cons: Pay raises are quite slow, and it's tough to see significant jumps. The bonuses aren't fantastic, especially when you compare the workload for Project Engineer roles here to what you might get elsewhere. Total compensation isn't super competitive against the private industry.
Advice to Management: Consider reviewing salary bands and performance bonus structures to better reward high-performing Project Engineers and maintain competitiveness with the private sector. It's tough to retain talent when compensation isn't keeping up.

Decent Work-Life Balance for a Public Sector Role
Pros: The work-life balance as a Housing Officer is pretty good most of the time. We generally stick to 40-hour weeks, which is nice for a government agency in the public housing sector. There's a decent flexitime policy that helps if you need to pop out for an appointment.
Cons: Sometimes, there are really tight deadlines for projects, which means longer hours. The workload can get heavy quickly, especially when dealing with urgent resident issues. It's not always easy to truly disconnect after work.
Advice to Management: Focus on resource allocation better to prevent burnout during peak periods. Try to streamline some internal processes to reduce administrative burden on Housing Officers.
