Decent place for remote software development
Pros: Working remote here as a Software Engineer is pretty good. They don't micromanage your time too much, especially on routine software development tasks. I usually hit my 40 hours and then log off, which is a solid work-life balance.
Cons: Sometimes crunch time on big tech projects means longer days. It's not always 40 hours, especially if a deadline is tight or a client is demanding. They expect you to be available during standard business hours even if you're WFH.
Advice to Management: Try to buffer project timelines more to avoid constant crunch for your software development teams. Better planning can prevent burnout.

Decent flexibility for remote software engineers
Pros: As a remote software engineer, I've had decent flexibility with my daily schedule. They don't micromanage your hours as long as your work gets done for our IT consulting projects. It's nice to be able to mostly set my own pace.
Cons: Still, there are rigid core hours for team meetings, making personal appointments tough to fit in sometimes. Also, some client demands mean you can't truly log off when you want. The remote setup isn't always as flexible as it seems for everyone.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more flexible core hours, especially for remote teams across different time zones. Trust employees to manage their time effectively without such strict meeting windows.

Leadership is a mixed bag here
Pros: As a Software Engineer, I got to work on some pretty cool projects. The engineering teams are generally collaborative and it's a decent place for junior developers to learn in the Dallas, TX office.
Cons: Leadership can be really hands-off sometimes, which makes decision-making slow for our agile sprints. There's a noticeable lack of clear strategic direction from the top, impacting our product development cycles. Middle management tries their best but often feels unsupported.
Advice to Management: Senior leadership needs to provide more consistent vision and better support for project leads. Improve communication channels for strategic decisions within our tech company.
