Company Summary

Company Reviews

Headquartered in Singapore, The Learning Lab (“TLL”) is a leading education platform in Southeast Asia, and the #1 market leader in Singapore’s premium tuition and enrichment sector.

TLL’s year-round, after-school programmes are underpinned by a proprietary and research-backed curriculum, as well as best-in-class teacher training and recruitment, both designed to stimulate students’ natural curiosity, self-aware participation and critical thinking.

Having been chiefly an offline provider for most of the 20 years since its founding, TLL has, in recent years, successfully enhanced its online capabilities, which now support hybrid learning and already offer a scalable and digitally-delivered product to ASEAN markets and expatriates. This in turn lays the foundation for TLL’s other EdTech initiatives with high growth potential.

Leadership can be a bit disconnected here
Pros: I've learned a lot as a Curriculum Developer, especially in creating engaging educational content for Singaporean students. The onsite work environment in the main Singapore office is pretty collaborative among peers. We get decent exposure to different teaching methodologies.
Cons: Leadership can be slow to adapt to new ideas, even when presented with data from our tutoring services. There's often a disconnect between management and the ground staff at this enrichment centre. It's tough to feel heard sometimes, especially when you're trying to improve things for students.
Advice to Management: Try to spend more time with the teams on the ground, especially those of us developing the core educational content. Listen to feedback and be more agile in decision-making.

Tough for Work-Life, Not Much Flexibility
Pros: As a Lead Educator, I've learned a lot about academic coaching and curriculum development. The team is pretty solid, and you get decent exposure to the Singapore education system.
Cons: Work flexibility is tough, especially for tutoring roles. It's almost always onsite, so WFH is rarely an option. Don't expect much flexibility for personal appointments, it's pretty rigid in this enrichment center.
Advice to Management: Management should seriously look into offering more hybrid or WFH options for certain roles, even if it's just a few days. Greater understanding for personal appointments would also go a long way for employee morale in this tuition industry.
