Account Manager

Culture is okay, but needs work
Pros: My direct team in the Austin office was great; really supportive. WFH was solid and they tried to do some fun virtual events for a B2B software company.
Cons: Cross-functional collaboration for Account Manager roles was tough. There's a real silo problem, and it felt like leadership wasn't always aligned. The overall company culture feels pretty disconnected, especially for hybrid teams.
Advice to Management: Work on breaking down those department silos. Better communication from senior leadership would really help boost morale and improve collaboration.

Software Engineer

Okay if you're early career, but growth stalls.
Pros: The hybrid work environment is solid. You get decent exposure to different projects if you're new in software development.
Cons: Career growth felt pretty stagnant as a Software Engineer. There aren't many clear promotion paths here at this mid-sized tech company in the San Francisco office. It's tough to move up.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating more structured career paths. Give employees clearer expectations for advancement beyond entry-level roles.

Hybrid Model Works Okay, Room to Improve
Pros: I like that it's a hybrid setup, which is 3 days in the office for us here in Austin, TX. It's good for connecting with the team without being completely onsite, and it helps with project coordination.
Cons: Sometimes those 'flexible' WFH days don't feel very flexible if you have lots of last-minute meetings. There isn't much actual remote work for specific roles, so you're often tied to the office schedule.
Advice to Management: Management should really think about offering more consistent remote work options for roles that can truly be done from home. Clearer boundaries on hybrid flexibility would make a big difference for us.

Junior Software Engineer

Hybrid setup is fine, but not perfect
Pros: For a Junior Software Engineer, the hybrid model is decent. We get to work from home three days a week, which is a big plus for work-life balance. It's nice to avoid the Seattle traffic on those days.
Cons: The two required days in the Seattle office can feel restrictive, especially when there aren't many team meetings. Sometimes, managers aren't consistent with flexibility if you need an odd day off. It's not truly flexible if you're not a senior engineer.
Advice to Management: Try to make the in-office days more engaging for all. Also, be more consistent with work flexibility policies across teams, even for junior roles. True flexibility helps morale.
