Decent Hybrid Policy, Room for Improvement
Pros: As a Software Engineer, the hybrid setup is pretty solid. We get to work remote a couple of days a week, which helps with the commute in San Francisco. It's a lifesaver for personal appointments, especially in the busy fintech industry.
Cons: But don't expect full flexibility; you definitely need to be in the San Francisco office more often than not. Some teams, especially in core mobile development, struggle to truly unplug. Meetings can drag on, making it tough to plan after-work stuff, which really impacts work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Try to enforce stricter meeting end times. Make the hybrid policy clearer for different teams and ensure it's consistently applied across all mobile development roles.

Work-Life Balance Can Be Tough Here
Pros: The hybrid WFH policy is decent, so you don't always have to be in the San Francisco office. You learn a lot quickly in product development. There's some flexibility if you really need to run an errand.
Cons: As a Software Engineer, expect long hours, especially during sprint cycles for new features. The pressure from tight deadlines for the fintech app is real. It's tough to truly disconnect after a standard 40-hour week.
Advice to Management: Try to set more realistic project timelines for the engineering team. Encourage managers to push for a better work-life balance and respect boundaries.

Junior Software Engineer

Pay is alright, benefits are pretty standard
Pros: As a junior software engineer, the base pay is decent for a startup, especially in the competitive fintech industry. They offer solid health insurance and a 3% 401k match, which is fine. Working remote from Austin, TX is a big plus for work-life balance.
Cons: Don't expect crazy bonuses or big stock options, those are mostly for senior engineering roles. Annual pay raises feel pretty minimal, it's hard to feel like you're keeping up. The PTO policy could definitely be better, it's not super generous.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate compensation bands for engineering roles to be more competitive. Focus on making annual raises more impactful and consider improving the PTO policy to match industry standards for tech companies.
