Culture Can Be Tough, But It's a Big Name
Pros: I gained really solid experience in the banking sector, especially with credit assessment. You work with a lot of smart people. There's a certain prestige from working for such a large institution in the Philippine banking scene, which is good for your resume.
Cons: The company culture can feel very traditional and bureaucratic. Decision-making is slow, and there's a lot of red tape. As a Credit Analyst, I often felt my input wasn't truly valued. Expect long onsite hours in the Makati City office.
Advice to Management: Try to empower junior employees more and streamline decision-making. Foster an environment where new ideas are actually considered, not just pushed aside due to hierarchy. Modernize the work environment and consider more work-life balance initiatives.

Work Flexibility is Tough for Most Roles Here
Pros: You get pretty solid benefits working for a corporate giant like BDO Unibank. There's good job security in the financial services industry, which can be a real plus for employees.
Cons: Work-life balance is often challenging. As a Bank Teller in the Manila office, WFH options are basically non-existent. You're almost always onsite with fixed hours, and that really limits work flexibility.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more hybrid or WFH options, especially for roles that can support it. It would really help with employee morale and retention.

Solid Bank, Decent Security for Branch Staff
Pros: Job security is pretty good here, especially as a Bank Teller. You're part of a massive corporate bank in the Philippine banking industry, so mass layoffs aren't really a worry. The core operations always need people in the Manila branches.
Cons: Growth for entry-level banking roles can feel stuck. Promotions are slow, and you often need to move departments to really get ahead. Sometimes it feels like there's not much room to grow beyond your initial role.
Advice to Management: Look into faster career progression paths for long-term employees, especially in branch operations. It would help with retention.

Tough Hours for Tellers, Decent Benefits
Pros: The job security for a big corporate bank like BDO Unibank is solid. Pay is decent for a banking role in the Manila office. Benefits are pretty standard, which is good enough.
Cons: Work-life balance as a Teller is really tough here. Expect long hours in branch operations, especially during closing and month-ends, sometimes even weekend work. It's hard to make personal plans when your onsite banking schedule is so unpredictable.
Advice to Management: Try to staff more adequately for branch operations, especially during peak times. This would really help reduce the reliance on mandatory overtime for Tellers and improve their work-life balance.

Leadership is decent, but can improve
Pros: The local management team in the Makati City office is generally supportive. I've gained solid experience in financial analysis and banking operations here. They do offer some decent perks for employees.
Cons: Sometimes, the senior leadership struggles with clear communication and fast decision-making. For a financial analyst, career progression isn't always transparent. It can get really busy, impacting work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Try to improve communication and speed up decision-making from the top. Create a clearer career path for professionals in the banking industry.

Career growth is a slow grind here
Pros: You learn a lot about the financial industry here. The team is pretty solid, especially in the Makati City office. It's a good place to start out in the banking sector.
Cons: Career growth for Junior Credit Analyst roles is really slow. There aren't many clear paths upward. Getting promoted feels like a tough, uphill battle without a lot of internal networking.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to create clearer career progression paths for entry-level banking roles. Give Junior Credit Analysts more opportunities to step up and take on bigger responsibilities.

Leadership at BDO Can Be Hit or Miss
Pros: Some team leaders and branch managers are genuinely good, especially if you're new in retail banking. They'll actually help you learn the ropes and support your daily tasks as a Bank Teller in a busy Metro Manila branch.
Cons: Other times, leadership feels really disconnected from the ground level. There's a noticeable gap between what's expected from above and what's actually doable for onsite staff in branch operations.
Advice to Management: Try to get more input from front-line employees like Bank Tellers on process improvements. Bridging that communication gap could make a huge difference in daily operations and team morale within the financial services sector.

Solid job security, but tough on personal time
Pros: As a Bank Teller, the job security at this big corporate bank is pretty solid. Your coworkers are generally helpful, which makes the long onsite hours a bit more bearable in our Makati City branch.
Cons: But work-life balance here is tough. Expect mandatory overtime, especially for retail banking roles, and it often cuts into your personal time. It's hard to find good work flexibility when you're always closing.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into better staffing to reduce the reliance on mandatory overtime for branch employees. It's impacting people's lives outside of work, and it's not sustainable.

Cons: Company culture can feel very traditional, especially as a Bank Teller. Long hours are common, closing up can be late. Work-life balance isn't great sometimes.
Advice to Management: Try to update the corporate culture a bit. More support for work-life balance, especially for branch employees, would really help.
