Solid Hands-On Experience, Growth Needs Work
Pros: For new Data Center Technicians, there's good hands-on experience maintaining IT infrastructure. You learn a lot from daily server maintenance and troubleshooting, which is great in the data center industry. It builds a solid technical foundation.
Cons: Formal career growth paths are not super clear for technical roles. It's tough to move up unless you really push for it. External training and certifications aren't heavily sponsored by this mid-sized company.
Advice to Management: Invest more in structured career development and a clear path for technical roles. Offer a budget for external training and certifications to help Data Center Technicians advance.

Decent flexibility for a data center role
Pros: They're pretty decent about shift swapping if you plan ahead, which is a big plus for onsite data center operations. It's not a big tech company, but they try to be accommodating when they can. You can usually get a day off if you trade with someone.
Cons: Remote work isn't really an option here, which is expected for most infrastructure roles. Even shift changes can be tough without proper coverage, especially with lean staffing. Don't expect much work-from-home beyond emergencies.
Advice to Management: Maybe look into staffing levels for the Ashburn campus so shift changes are easier. It'd really help morale for the Data Center Technicians.
