Human Resources Business Partner (German Section and Preschool)
The HR Business Partner will provide support to the German Section and Preschool of the school.
The role will support designated departments in Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Performance Management, Engagement and Retention. The role will also act as an HR Consultant within the German Academic Sections and Preschool, supporting closely on people matters for those employed in the German Section and Preschool.
This position reports to the Director of HR and will work collaboratively with the HR Team and be a direct Business Partner to the Academic Directors of German Section and Preschool at GESS supporting the following key areas:
Talent Acquisition
· Drive critical efforts to deliver against strategic head count goals by partnering with hiring managers to leverage process, programs and technology to drive improvement and efficiency.
· Assess and analyse pipeline metrics and recruiting processes to identify areas of improvement and provide recommended actions.
· Cultivate and sustain utilised recruitment platforms.
· Partner with the Academic Directors of German Section and Preschool to ensure best practices are followed during recruiting and interviewing.
· Facilitate the talent acquisition process including developing job descriptions, sourcing, screening, and conducting competency-based interviews to ensure right candidates are hired and offer making.
· Manage end to end recruitment process on ATS (application tracking system) and generate reports when needed.
· Partner with the Academic Directors of German Section and Preschool, HR Services and HR Manager to assess and develop creative strategies to enhance the overall candidate experience and onboarding process.
· Identify hiring trends, market insights and analysis, and drive recruitment experience.
· To work with HR Manager for seamless and enriching Onboarding experience for all new joiners.
Engagement
· Partner with the Academic Directors of German Section, Preschool and Director of HR to collaborate in improving engagement within the divisions ensuring expectations are properly set and clear priorities established while continually upholding the School’s values.
· Partner with the School to ensure that there is a plan in place to improve Team Member Engagement, if needed.
· Provide counselling to the School on trends in internal employee relations issues.
· Conduct exit interviews, sharing information and highlighting opportunities for improvement.
· Contribute to the employee engagement survey including driving key action points and staff communications.
· Manage operational and data needs to ensure compliance.
· Recruitment and Onboarding: Coordinate recruitment efforts, including but not limited to, posting job openings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and making hiring recommendations. Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including orientation, paperwork completion and coordination.
· Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, providing guidance and resolution as needed.
Strategic Resourcing
· Partner with the Academic Directors of German Section and Preschool to identify future talent needs and proactively recruit and source, develop talent pool or Talent bench strength.
· Work closely with HR Manager in recruitment, sourcing and selection.
· Provide recruitment counsel and guidance to the pedagogical leaders as needed.
· Collaborate with HR team and work closely with management in the successful implementation and communication of HR policies, processes and initiatives related to human resources, organizational and employee development.
· Identify retention risks and makes recommendation for retention.
HR Consulting
· Communicate and interact effectively with staff in the division who may seek career development guidance.
· Act as HR Advisor to staff and pedagogical leaders in business issues.
Stakeholder Management
· Build effective relationships within the organization with various departments to work in collaboration towards the success of organisational goals.
· Building profitable and collaborative relationships with external search firms and training providers including contracts negotiation.
· Engaging in meaningful conflict resolution and handling of employee behaviour.
· Handling organisational administrative duties such as updating the payroll administration, employee benefits, and managing leave enquiries.
Legislation and Data Compliance
· Stays current with employment laws, regulations, and other legal requirements related to personnel management, assisting leaders in maintaining compliance.
· HR Administration: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files, HRIS data, and other HR-related documents.
Ad-Hoc Projects
· Participate in HR projects/events from HR Manager/Director of HR.
· Collaborate with the HR team on implementing procedures in line with approved policies.
· Translation of HR communication into German where required.
Knowledge and Experience
· Bachelors’ degree in HR or business-related program
· 3-5 years of combined experience in a HR generalist role ideally in a Business Partner capacity
· Good German language proficiency skill to liaise with German clients, staff members and authorities is essential
· Experience with working in social media recruitment platform or creative sourcing techniques
· Experience of reporting and analysing indicative employee data (e.g. new hires requisitions, terminations, change of status, etc.)

Gifted and Talented Program Coordinator
Start Date – 1 August 2024
To provide and develop a gifted and talented programme that meets the diverse needs of GESS students. The coordinator will ensure an effective programme is developed and implemented that includes a curriculum, assessment and entrance requirements, educational plans for specific students, core program integration and after school learning opportunities, events, and student participation in competitions. They will collaborate closely with the directors and other faculty to drive the programme forward.
This position will be combination of teaching and as a program coordinator.
Key Accountabilities
Program Development and Management
· Lead in accordance with the Leadership Standards of GESS.
· Lead the creation and ongoing development of a Gifted and Talented Program. Coordinate with faculty to integrate the Gifted and Talented Program into the core programmes and after-school learning opportunities.
· Ensure there is an effective programme and curriculum established in the core subjects for students in upper primary to high school.
· Establish clear entrance, assessment and reporting practices for the programme.
· Establish a process for individual educational plans for gifted and talented students with close collaboration and involvement from teachers.
· Establish after-school learning opportunities, with mentoring, and competition preparation.
· Establish GESS’s involvement in a range of competitions suitable for gifted and talented students.
Community Partnership and Engagement
· Work collaboratively with the Directors of Primary, Middle and High School, middle management and other faculty to support the development, community involvement and marketing of the gifted and talented programme.
· Coordinate activities and the delivery of a rich events programme that supports learning opportunities for gifted and talented students, including field trips, guest speakers/workshops, presentations and celebrations.
· To build and leverage links with like-minded organisations in business, industry and higher education both in Singapore and the wider region.
· Promote communication both internally and externally through the extensive communication channels by showcasing ongoing projects and celebrating the creativity of the community.
Student Development
· Through leadership of the team ensure there is a suitable curriculum, assessment, core and after-school learning opportunities, and participation in competitions for gifted and talented students.

Experience and Qualifications
- Recognised teaching qualification (minimum B.Ed or PGCE equivalent)
- At least 4 years teaching experience
