Okay balance, but project crunch is real.
Pros: The team in the Cincinnati office is solid, and I really enjoy the work we do in the flavor & fragrance industry. There's a decent hybrid setup with WFH days, which helps a lot. For an R&D Scientist, the problems are interesting.
Cons: Work-life balance can be tough when project deadlines hit hard. As an R&D Scientist, it's common to put in 50+ hour weeks for new product development. Management sometimes overloads teams, making personal time scarce.
Advice to Management: Leadership needs to really look at workload distribution for R&D teams. It's not sustainable to constantly push for tight deadlines without adequate resources or managing scientist burnout.

Hybrid Model Works, But Could Be Better
Pros: We've got a decent hybrid work schedule, which is good. As an R&D Scientist, I appreciate not being stuck in the East Hanover, NJ office five days a week. It helps manage personal appointments and avoids the daily commute grind.
Cons: The flexibility could be more genuine though. There are strict core hours and some managers aren't really on board with true remote options, even for administrative tasks. It's tough when you're working on flavor development and need focused deep work time away from the lab.
Advice to Management: Give managers more autonomy to genuinely support work flexibility. Trust employees more with remote work, especially for non-lab-dependent tasks. It would really boost morale across the company.

Decent Flexibility, But Depends on Your Team
Pros: It's pretty good for a big corporate company. As an R&D Scientist, I usually got 2 WFH days a week, which was a huge help for my work-life balance. The hybrid model worked out okay in the East Hanover, NJ office if your manager was supportive.
Cons: Flexibility really varies by manager. Some teams don't get as many WFH days, especially in hands-on fragrance and flavors labs. It can feel a bit unfair, and there's not much official policy to back you up if your direct boss isn't flexible.
Advice to Management: Standardize the hybrid model across all R&D and lab functions. It would help a lot with employee morale and reduce discrepancies between teams.
