Work-Life Balance Can Be Tough Here
Pros: The hybrid work model is a solid perk. I only need to be in the San Jose office a couple days a week, which helps. When projects aren't in crunch mode, you can totally stick to 40-hour weeks.
Cons: Project deadlines often mean working long, late hours. As an Embedded Software Engineer, I've had many nights debugging past dinner. It's just a reality in the fast-paced semiconductor industry.
Advice to Management: Try to set more realistic project timelines. Burnout is a real concern when engineering teams constantly face aggressive launch dates.

Leadership's okay, but it really varies.
Pros: The benefits package is pretty solid, especially health insurance. Some managers are genuinely strong technically, especially in chip design projects. The hybrid work model is a decent perk for the San Jose office.
Cons: Senior leadership often feels disconnected from the day-to-day for us as Hardware Engineers. Decision-making is really slow, which frustrates progress on embedded systems. It's hard to get clear feedback or career path guidance from some leaders.
Advice to Management: Focus on developing stronger middle management and improving communication channels. Make career growth paths clearer for your technical staff.

Okay Work-Life if You Manage Projects
Pros: I've been an Embedded Software Engineer here for a few years, and the hybrid work model from our San Jose office is a huge plus. We get a good amount of PTO, which really helps balance things out. Projects can be engaging.
Cons: The work-life balance can get really tough right before a big product release. Expectations for timelines in the semiconductor industry are often very aggressive. It's easy to get burned out when those crunch times hit.
Advice to Management: Try to set more realistic project timelines and better manage workloads during crunch periods. It would help prevent burnout among the engineering teams.
