Leadership Has Potential, Needs More Clarity

Working at Ambu, especially in the medical device industry, has its ups and downs when it comes to leadership. Some managers are great, but the overall vision from the top can feel a bit scattered. It's a corporate environment, so expect some bureaucracy.


Pros

You'll find some really strong individual managers who are smart and supportive. They truly care about their teams and help you grow as a Product Manager. The company does provide decent resources for our projects, which is good.


Cons

The biggest issue is inconsistent strategic direction from senior leadership. It feels like priorities shift often, making long-term planning tough. Decision-making can be slow, which can hold back innovation for healthcare solutions.


Advice to Management

Focus on clearer, consistent strategic communication from the top. Empower mid-level leadership more to cut down on slow decision-making, especially for critical medical device projects. This would really help with employee morale and retention.

Pay is Okay, Benefits are Solid
Pros: Health insurance is pretty decent here. The 401k match is actually quite good for a corporate medical device company. As a Product Development Engineer in the Copenhagen office, the base salary is competitive enough.
Cons: Salary increases aren't really impressive each year. Bonuses often feel pretty small and aren't very clear. Don't expect much in terms of stock options, which can be a bummer.

Pros: For a Clinical Sales Specialist, job security here feels okay most of the time. Ambu has solid products, especially with our single-use scopes, which keeps us relevant in the medical device industry. Plus, being able to work remotely from my home office is a huge perk that helps with overall stability.
Cons: There's definitely some internal uncertainty when product lines get shifted or reorganizations happen. It's a mid-sized corporate environment, so changes can impact teams quickly. You just can't get too comfortable, especially with tough sales targets.
Advice to Management: Try to communicate changes more transparently and give teams more warning. Help support Clinical Sales Specialist roles better when market shifts occur. It helps with morale and perceived job security for remote employees.
