Okay Work-Life, Tough for Production Roles
Pros: The pay and benefits are solid for a global company. You get decent vacation time, which helps. There are good opportunities for career growth if you're willing to commit a lot of time.
Cons: Work-life balance as a Production Supervisor is often tricky. Long hours are common in chemical manufacturing, especially if you're working onsite shifts. It's hard to find good work flexibility when production schedules are tight.
Advice to Management: Try to better staff critical onsite production shifts. Improve work-life balance for those in manufacturing roles. More support for managers balancing operational demands with personal time would really help.

Hybrid model is okay, but could be better
Pros: Work flexibility here is pretty decent for corporate roles. As an R&D Chemist, I could usually WFH two days a week. This hybrid model is a solid step for a large corporate company in chemical manufacturing, helping avoid the Chicago traffic.
Cons: It's not truly flexible though; those WFH days were set, not chosen daily. If you're in the lab, you're onsite for specific projects, which is fair. The managers aren't always great at adapting schedules outside the official hybrid policy.
Advice to Management: Give teams more autonomy to decide their WFH days. Trust your employees to get the work done, whether they're in the Chicago office or working remotely.

Sales Representative

Decent pay for a corporate gig, but could be better.
Pros: The health insurance is pretty solid here, especially for a large corporate company like AkzoNobel. They also have a good 401k match, which is important for retirement planning. As a Sales Representative in the paint and coatings industry, the base salary was generally competitive for the Atlanta office.
Cons: Annual bonuses weren't always hitting targets, making it tough to really feel rewarded. There wasn't much room for significant salary increases unless you switched roles, which is frustrating. Dental and vision benefits felt a bit basic compared to other big companies.
Advice to Management: Review the bonus structure to make it more achievable and transparent. Also, consider more regular salary adjustments for experienced Sales Representatives, not just when promoting.
