Pros: As a manufacturing engineer in the Indianapolis office, I typically stuck to 40-hour weeks. It's an onsite role, but they're pretty good about letting you leave on time. There's not much weekend work, which is a big plus for a large corporate company like SMC.
Cons: Sometimes, during big production pushes or new product launches in industrial automation, the hours can get long. Flexibility for remote work is almost non-existent for engineering positions, which can be tough. It's a pretty traditional setup.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into offering more flexible options for onsite roles where possible, even if it's just a hybrid model a couple days a week. It would help a lot with retention.
