Software Engineer

Decent tech job, but market uncertainty
Pros: For software development roles, projects usually run long enough. My team felt pretty stable for a while working on key agile projects, which was a relief. The remote work setup is solid for those who prefer it.
Cons: Recent tech layoffs definitely hit some departments, which makes everyone nervous. There's always a worry about project funding here, especially with the current economic climate. It impacts job security big time.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent about company finances and future project pipelines. It helps reduce anxiety for employees like me, especially when we're working remote from Denver, CO and seeing layoffs happen.

Pay's okay, but benefits could be better
Pros: As a Junior Software Engineer, my base salary felt pretty decent for Austin, TX. The health insurance is solid, and they offer a 401k match, which is good for a mid-sized tech company. It's a stable place for an entry-level tech role.
Cons: Raises felt small, usually just 2-3% annually, even with strong performance. The bonus structure for project-based work was often confusing and didn't always pay out as expected. Don't anticipate big tech compensation packages here for software development roles.
Advice to Management: Clarify the bonus structure for project-based work and make annual raises more competitive, especially for high-performing employees. It would help with retention.
