Pros: I've had some decent WFH days, which helps with my personal schedule. The company generally respects vacation time if you plan ahead, which is good for a mid-sized biotech. For science roles, there's a bit of flexibility in how you manage your experiments.
Cons: The biggest challenge for work-life balance is the crunch time on genomics projects. It's not uncommon to work 50+ hour weeks when a deadline hits, especially for Research Scientists. The San Jose, CA office can feel pretty demanding, and sometimes the hybrid model just means more late nights in the lab.
Advice to Management: Management should really try to staff more appropriately for the demanding sequencing projects. It'd help a lot with burnout among Research Scientists and improve overall work-life balance.
