About The Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Specialist, Cloud Software Engineer to join our Mission Networks Cloud Engineering team in Melbourne, FL. In this role, you will leverage leading Cloud Service Providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud to develop, deploy, and maintain mission-critical cloud solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to define requirements, design architectures, and implement scalable cloud applications that enhance our operational capabilities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge defense projects, utilizing microservices, containerization, and DevOps practices to ensure high availability and security of our cloud-based systems.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with 2 years of experience. Alternatively, candidates with 8 or more years of directly related experience without a degree are also considered. Candidates must demonstrate strong expertise in cloud software development, microservices architecture, and DevOps methodologies. Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) are preferred. The ability to obtain and maintain an FAA public trust clearance is required. Candidates should have a solid foundation in object-oriented programming, cloud deployment, and modern software development practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and integration of cloud-based software applications within an Agile environment, ensuring end-to-end system functionality and performance.
- Develop scalable, secure, and highly available cloud applications aligned with program requirements and strategic business goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system engineers, and customers, to review designs, provide estimates, and identify potential risks and limitations.
- Implement DevOps best practices by building automated build, test, and deployment pipelines to streamline development cycles and improve operational efficiency.
- Provide ongoing operational support for cloud applications, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance with service level agreements.
- Design, develop, and deploy microservices in Kubernetes-based environments such as EKS or OpenShift, applying microservice architectural patterns.
- Manage containerized workloads, databases, and object storage solutions in cloud environments, ensuring scalability and performance.
- Write well-structured, tested, and efficient code across multiple languages, including Java, Python, and JavaScript, and mentor team members in best practices.
- Perform design verification to ensure compliance with technical specifications and customer requirements.
