Position: Software Engineer
Location: Remote
Job Type: Full -Time, Independent Contractor
Work Schedule: 40hrs/week, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST

Job Purpose and Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer who will help design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance data processing solutions. This role works across modern .NET, React, Azure, and SQL Server platforms, and is built around active, daily use of AI-assisted development and agentic tooling from day one.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design and implementation of features using ASP.NET Core, React, Azure services, and SQL Server, with guidance from senior engineers.
- Help translate business and technical requirements into working, maintainable solutions.
- Build client-side experiences using React, TypeScript, Hooks, and state management patterns.
- Assist in designing and implementing RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core, C#, and Entity Framework Core.
- Support cloud-native Azure solutions (App Services, Functions, Storage, Key Vault, CI/CD pipelines).
- Write and optimize SQL Server queries, with mentorship on indexing and performance tuning.
- Participate in code reviews, testing strategies, and CI/CD automation, building toward independent ownership of quality standards.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, provide estimates, and proactively communicate progress and blockers.
- Stay curious about new technologies, frameworks, and best practices — especially AI and ML-powered tooling.
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving production issues as directed by senior engineers.
AI & Tooling Focus
- Use AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Cursor, or similar) as a core part of your daily development workflow, not an afterthought.
- Run agentic workflows that carry multi-step tasks end to end: planning the change, editing across files, running tests, and iterating on the result.
- Learn and apply prompt and context engineering techniques to improve the speed and quality of AI-generated code.
- Follow established AI governance guardrails around quality, security, and responsible use, and help flag gaps as you find them.
- Apply LLM orchestration and agentic workflow patterns, including tool and function calling and MCP-based tool integrations, with senior engineers guiding where the guardrails and checkpoints belong.
- Use AI across the full development cycle, not just code generation: test creation, refactoring, debugging, log analysis, and documentation.
- Review, test, and take responsibility for every AI-generated change you commit, including recognizing when output is wrong, incomplete, or unsafe to ship.
- Bring a fresh, curious perspective on emerging AI and ML-powered developer tooling — share what you find with the team.
- Participate in AI-assisted code review, automated test generation, and pilot programs for new intelligent tooling.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent — recent graduate or up to 2 years of experience.
- Foundational knowledge of C# and modern .NET, gained through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
- Exposure to React + TypeScript through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) through coursework, certifications, or self-directed learning.
- Basic understanding of SQL and relational database concepts.
- Foundational understanding of software architecture patterns and API design.
- Experience with Git-based workflows and collaborative development.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar) as a routine part of how you work, in academic, internship, or personal projects.
- Working understanding of agentic orchestration: what a multi-step agent workflow is, how tool and function calling work, and why human checkpoints matter.
- Ability to read and critically evaluate AI-generated code rather than accepting it as-is.
- Curiosity about microservices, messaging, or event-driven architecture concepts.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, product, and business teams.
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and ability to learn quickly with mentorship.
Nice-to-have:
- Personal or academic projects built using AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code.
- Hands-on agentic orchestration on a real project: multi-step agent workflows, custom tools, or MCP server integrations.
- Experience with agentic CLI tooling such as Claude Code, including running longer unattended or semi-attended tasks.
- Projects where agents handled test generation, refactors, or migrations end to end.
- Internship or co-op experience in a professional software engineering environment.
- Contributions to open-source projects.
