Software Product Engineer (Node/React + AI)

Dazlab is a small AI-native product studio in Australia. We run SaaS platforms for real estate associations in the US and build our own products alongside them. Right now that's five products live or launching, with one founder.

This is not a ticket-queue job. You'll have real ownership over what gets built and how it looks, and your opinion on both will matter from week one.

What you'll work on

• A PayloadCMS-based multi-tenant platform serving US association clients — feature work and support
• Handl, our billing platform for agencies
• Mortar.design, for interior designers
• Two new products launching in the next fortnight

How we work

We ship fast and iterate. Features go up in days, not sprints. AI writes a lot of the code here, which means the valuable work has shifted — it's in deciding what to build, judging whether what came back is actually good, and refining it until it is. If your instinct after shipping is to open it up and go "that's clunky, let me fix it," you'll do well here.

Anything done more than twice, we look to automate. That's how a team this small covers this much ground.

Must-haves

• Strong Node and React (Next.js)
• Genuinely fluent with Claude Code — agentic coding is how you work daily, not something you've tried
• Google Cloud (Cloud Run), Postgres (Neon/Supabase), Prisma
• A real eye for UI and UX — you can tell when something's bad and improve it without a Figma file
• Product judgment: you work out what a user actually needs rather than building exactly what was asked, and you'll push back on me when something doesn't make sense
• Disciplined Git and PR-based workflow, working independently
• Excellent written English — nearly everything is async

Nice to have

• PayloadCMS
• Stripe
• Experience supporting live production clients, not just greenfield builds
