We are hiring a highly disciplined and retention-obsessed
Video Editor to craft high-performing short-form vertical episodes built entirely from AI-generated assets.
There is
no live-action footage.
All visuals, characters, environments, and scenes are AI-generated and delivered through a structured pipeline in collaboration with:
Narrative Lead (Director / Scriptwriter)
AI Content Creator / Prompt Engineer
Your role is to transform AI-generated scenes into emotionally compelling, high-completion short episodes optimized for mobile viewing and binge behavior.
This is not social content trimming.
This is retention-driven episodic editing.
Core Ownership
You Are Accountable For
Episode pacing and rhythm
Hook optimization within first 13 seconds
Emotional escalation through edit timing
Cliffhanger execution
Subtitle clarity and mobile readability
Final delivery quality and platform compliance
You own the viewers experience from frame one to final cut.
Key Responsibilities
Retention-First Editing
Edit vertical short-form episodes (9:16) including:
- Micro-drama episodes
- Trailers and teasers
- Recaps
- Performance marketing variations
Structure Edits For
- Immediate visual hook
- Fast narrative clarity
- Escalating emotional beats
- High completion rate
- Strong end-of-episode tension
Tighten pacing aggressively without damaging story coherence
AI Asset Assembly & Scene Continuity
Assemble AI-generated image and video sequences into cohesive scenes
Maintain character and environment continuity through precise cut decisions
Identify visual inconsistencies and flag them to the Narrative Lead and Prompt Engineer
Enhance AI-generated visuals using subtle motion, reframing, zoom, or layering where appropriate
Subtitles, Sound & Emotional Texture
Add and format mobile-first captions for maximum readability
Sync dialogue, music, and sound effects for emotional impact
Maintain dialogue clarity and balanced audio levels
Use sound design strategically to enhance tension and rhythm
Performance & Iteration
Collaborate On A/B Variations Of
- Opening hooks
- Scene pacing
- Episode endings
- Review drop-off data and adjust edits to improve retention
- Optimize edits for binge-through behavior across episodes
Workflow & Efficiency
Manage multiple episodes per week under tight production cycles
Maintain Reusable Templates
- Caption systems
- Hook formats
- End-screen structures
- Audio beds
- Use AI-assisted tools for efficiency:
- Auto-captioning
- Audio cleanup
- Scene enhancement
- Rough cut acceleration
Must-Have Experience
2+ years editing short-form vertical content
Deep Understanding Of
- Retention-based editing
- Hook optimization
- Cliffhanger timing
- Mobile-first pacing
- Proficiency in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar
- Experience with subtitles/captions and audio cleanup
- Ability to handle high output volume with consistency
- Strong instinct for emotional timing and narrative flow
Preferred Qualifications
Experience editing serialized or story-driven content
Experience working with AI-generated visuals
Motion graphics capability (After Effects or similar)
Familiarity with viral vertical editing styles
Exposure to AI-assisted editing tools
Understanding of performance marketing creatives and hook iteration
