Outsourced is recognized as one of the Best Places to Work and has achieved Great Place to Work Certification. We are committed to providing a positive and supportive work environment where all staff can thrive. As an Outsourced staff member, you will enjoy a fun and friendly working environment, competitive salaries, opportunities for growth and development, work-life balance, and the chance to share your passion with a team of over 1,000 talented professionals.

We are seeking a full-time Quantity Surveyor to support a New Zealand interiors and fit-out contractor specializing in:

  • Light gauge steel framing (steel stud and metal ceilings)
  • Suspended and decorative acoustic ceilings
  • Plasterboard and fibre cement linings
  • Insulation and interior / exterior decorative trades
  • Terrace homes, apartments, residential, commercial and insurance work

You will work as a fully integrated member of the client’s team, focusing primarily on pre‑contract estimating and take‑offs for simpler, repeatable projects (e.g. standard residential and terraced developments). More complex and high-end projects will typically be handled in-house by the local NZ team.

Key Responsibilities

Pre‑Contract / Estimating

  • Perform quantitative take‑offs from drawings and specifications for:
    • Residential projects (simple houses, townhouses, terraces)
    • Straightforward commercial and multi‑residential interiors
  • Prepare and maintain measurement files using:
    • On Center – On-Screen Takeoff (OST)
    • On Center – Quick Bid
  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications and schedules.
  • Apply the client’s internal measurement and pricing methodology to ensure consistency.
  • Prepare and structure data for quotation and pricing by the New Zealand team (who will finalize pricing and post-contract management).
Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with New Zealand-based Quantity Surveyors / Estimators via online collaboration tools and regular calls.
  • Access and manage documents through SharePoint (or similar document management system).
  • Seek clarification and raise RFIs to the NZ team where drawings or scopes are unclear.
  • Participate in handover and training sessions to align with the client’s processes and standards.

Quality & Process

  • Follow established internal QS / estimating procedures, trade-by-trade checklists and measurement standards provided by the client.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness and consistency in all take‑offs and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain clear, organized records of assumptions, inclusions, exclusions and qualifications for each project.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of templates, checklists and workflows as required.

Requirements

Experience

  • 2–5 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator in building construction, preferably with:
    • Interior trades
    • Drywall / plasterboard
    • Suspended ceilings / decorative ceilings
    • Fit‑out / partitioning / linings
  • Experience handling pre‑contract work: take‑off, measurement and supporting pricing.
  • Exposure to residential and/or light commercial projects is highly preferred.
Technical Skills

  • Strong skills in digital take‑off and measurement.
  • Experience with On-Screen Takeoff (OST) and Quick Bid (or similar tools) is highly advantageous.
    • If not experienced, must be technically confident and able to learn quickly through structured training resources.
  • Proficient with Excel and general Microsoft Office tools.
  • Comfortable working with cloud-based document systems (e.g. SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.).
Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong grasp of measurement principles for interior trades.
  • No specific New Zealand standards required, but must be able to:
    • Learn and follow the client’s internal trade guides, measurement rules, and pricing structure.
    • Understand different relevant trades offered by the client and how they are quantified.
Soft Skills

  • Good to strong English communication skills (spoken and written):
    • Able to understand instructions, attend online meetings, and ask clear questions.
    • Not primarily client-facing, but must communicate effectively with the NZ team.
  • Detail-oriented, process-driven and highly accurate with numbers.
  • Proactive, reliable and able to work independently while being part of a remote team.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn the client’s systems and standards.
Work Arrangement

  • Office-based
  • Work schedule: 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM PHT
  • Minimum internet speed: 20 Mbps

Note: As part of the recruitment process, a background check will be conducted for all hired candidates. Please ensure that all required documents are prepared and submitted promptly.
