Role Description
UST is looking for a highly energetic and collaborative QA Lead with strong expertise in manual testing and solid working knowledge of Playwright automation to drive test validation and regression coverage for web applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in QA processes and procedures, combined with leadership capabilities to guide the team and ensure high-quality deliverables. Excellent communication skills are essential to effectively collaborate with both domain experts and technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead manual testing activities including functional, regression, exploratory, and UAT support
- Define and implement test strategies, test plans, and QA best practices
- Design, review, and approve test cases and test scenarios
- Drive the adoption and usage of Playwright automation for regression and validation testing
- Guide the team in developing, maintaining, and executing Playwright test scripts
- Monitor and improve automation coverage and effectiveness
- Provide regular updates on test progress, risks, and blockers
- Collaborate with developers, BAs, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure test readiness
- Oversee defect management, including prioritization and resolution tracking
- Participate in and lead Agile ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives)
- Ensure test environments and data are properly prepared and maintained
- Support CI/CD integration of automated tests and monitor execution results (where applicable)
- Mentor QA team members, conduct test artifact reviews, and promote best practices
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across QA processes, tools, and methodologies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, with strong focus on manual testing
- At least 2+ years of experience in a QA leadership or senior role
- Strong hands-on experience in web application testing
- Proven working experience with Playwright automation (basic to intermediate level)
- Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript for maintaining Playwright scripts
- Understanding of automation frameworks, selectors, waits, assertions, and test design patterns
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines is a plus
- Solid experience in requirements analysis, validation, and test design
- Strong understanding of SDLC/STLC and Agile methodologies
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and guide QA team members
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with JIRA and Confluence
- Background in retail or e-commerce domain is a plus
- Willingness to work on a midshift schedule
