Decent Flexibility, Room to Improve

I spent a couple of years as a Project Coordinator at Smartpark Systems Solutions, Incorporated in their Austin, TX office. It's a mid-sized tech company with okay flexibility, but there are definitely areas where they could do better for their employees.

Pros

The hybrid model is solid; I got to work remote two days a week, which was a big plus for my personal schedule. For Project Coordinator roles, having that option makes a difference. It's good that they trust us to get work done, even when not onsite.

Cons

While there's a hybrid option, the core hours are pretty strict, sometimes making it tough to schedule appointments during the day. It's not a truly flexible work environment beyond those two remote days. There's not much wiggle room if you need a specific WFH day outside of the set schedule, which is a bit limiting for a tech company.

Advice to Management

Consider loosening up the core hours slightly or offering more flexibility in choosing remote days. A true flexible work environment for employees, especially in roles like Project Coordinator, could really boost morale and productivity.

Software Engineer
2.7

Leadership has good intentions, needs execution
Pros: My direct team lead was always supportive and understood the technical challenges as a Software Engineer. There's a good vibe with peers, and we often find ways to work together effectively even when things are unclear.
Cons: Upper management often seems pretty disconnected from project realities in this mid-sized tech company. Strategic direction for our parking management systems can change suddenly, making long-term planning tough for individual contributors. It's hard to get clear answers and consistent vision from the top.
Advice to Management: Focus on better communication from senior leadership down to individual teams. Create a clearer, more stable strategic roadmap for the company's smart city tech initiatives instead of frequent pivots. Empower middle management more.
