About Singapore Canoe Federation:
The Singapore Canoe Federation (SCF) was founded in 1971 and is the National Sports Association responsible for the management, coordination, development and promotion of paddling in Singapore. It represents the interest of its athletes and members to Sport Singapore (Previously known as the Singapore Sports Council), the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC), the public and other International paddling bodies.
The SCF is an affiliate of both the Asian Canoe Confederation and the International Canoe Federation. As a non-profit organisation, the SCF relies mainly on its volunteers and its small group of staff. It is mainly funded through Sport Singapore.
Our Aims:
To promote opportunity for public participation in a full range of paddling activities in Singapore with high standards of safety. Among other things, the SCF aspires to:
● Nurture and prepare its elite and potential elite athletes to medal at the SEA Games, Asian Games, Olympic Games and other regional/international competitions.
● Uphold high standards of sportsmanship.
● Champion the development and enjoyment by the public of all paddling disciplines in Singapore.
● Develop and promote Singapore as a venue of choice for regional/international paddling championships/events.

Role description:
The Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for formulating and executing strategies to drive revenue, improve profitability, sustainability, managing operations and ensuring compliance at all operation outlets under the Singapore Canoe Federation (SCF).
The OM will ensure safe and efficient operations and serve as SCF’s representative on regulatory issues. He/she will lead the operations department and liaise with the Event team to oversee all services pertaining to events planning, coordination and execution.
The OM reports to the General Manager (GM).
Responsibilities
The role will cover four key areas of the organisation:
- Increase and Maximise Revenue of Operation Centres
- Operations
- Budgeting
- People Management
1. Increase and Maximise Revenue of Operation Centres
● Develop and execute plans to increase and maximise revenue, improve and track profitability of all operation centres under SCF.
● Using data to improve outreach and financial performance of all operation centres.
2.Operations
● Oversee day-to-day management of all operation outlets, ensuring smooth functioning of the operation department.
● Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, rules and regulations and internal processes to ensure safety measures and service quality are adhered to.
● Serve as the first point of contact with external agencies related to operations and events matters.
● Maintain inventory of fixed assets, conduct regular check and control.
● Work closely with the High Performance and Event Departments to synergise operation matters.
● Responsible for all vessel permit applications and processes, including maintenance of all vessels under SCF.
● Ensure efficiency and customer satisfaction for all public boat rental operations.
● Ensure all operation centres work with the Finance Department in collecting fees for boat storage and other services.
● Oversee the safety and risk management of all operation centres.
● Have oversight of the maintenance of all operation centres, including coordination with all relevant agencies, maintenance of the facilities, and other various safety and security matters as required.
3. Budgeting
● Devise and be accountable for the annual operating budgets.
● Oversee and track budget for all operating expenses.
● Prepare expenditure statements against the approved budget for all operations.
● Prepare monthly revenue and expenditure statements to report P&L of all operation centres.
● Work closely with the Finance Department on the preparation and submission of the various financial schemes and grants for the Federation.
4. People Management
● Communicate with affiliated members and handle all affiliate matters.
● Coordinate with vendors / suppliers for goods and services where required for events or daily business activities in terms of equipment and facility maintenance.
Others:
● To undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as required by the General Manager.
Qualifications/Technical Requirements/Experience:
● At least 5 years’ experience in a related field, with at least 3 years leading/managing a team.
● Proven track record of generating profits in previous line of work.
● Proven experience as an Operations Manager with strong knowledge in business operations and procedures.
● Proven experience in managing operation centres and venues.
● Excellent planning, organisational and budgetary skills and the ability to prioritise appropriately to meet deadlines.

● Possess leadership ability to lead a team
● Prior experience in the sports, outdoor recreation industry or equivalent will be an added advantage
● Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
● Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skill
● Ability to work on weekends and travel to various centres around Singapore
● Possession of Pleasure craft driving licence (PPCDL) and First Aid certification will be an added advantage
