Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Industrial Automation & Laser Machines
Job Summary
HANS LASER TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY GROUP (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and support advanced laser processing machines and industrial automation systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical design, machine development, precision motion systems, and product improvement for laser cutting, laser welding, laser marking, laser cleaning, and automated production equipment.
Working closely with Electrical, Software, and Manufacturing Engineers, you will develop innovative and reliable machine solutions that meet customer requirements, optimize production efficiency, and support Industry 4.0 manufacturing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical systems and assemblies for industrial automation and laser processing machines.
Create 3D models, detailed engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM) using CAD software.
Design machine frames, precision motion mechanisms, tooling, fixtures, guarding, and structural components.
Select and integrate mechanical components such as linear guides, ball screws, bearings, gearboxes, actuators, conveyors, and pneumatic systems.
Collaborate with Electrical and Software Engineers to integrate motion control systems, sensors, safety devices, and robotic automation.
Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design reviews to ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Support prototype assembly, machine testing, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), installation, and commissioning.
Investigate mechanical failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Optimize machine designs to improve productivity, maintainability, cost efficiency, and product quality.
Ensure designs comply with customer specifications, safety requirements, and applicable engineering standards.
Prepare engineering documentation, technical reports, operation manuals, and assembly instructions.
Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure timely fabrication and assembly of machine components.
Provide technical support to production, service engineers, and customers during machine installation and after-sales service.
Travel locally and internationally for machine installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer support when required.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in machine design, industrial automation, special-purpose machinery, or manufacturing equipment. Fresh graduates with strong design project experience are encouraged to apply.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, Siemens NX, or AutoCAD.
Strong knowledge of machine design principles, mechanical engineering fundamentals, and manufacturing processes.
Experience designing precision motion systems using linear guides, ball screws, servo-driven mechanisms, timing belts, and gear systems.
Familiarity with pneumatic systems, vacuum systems, conveyors, and automated material handling equipment.
Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack-up analysis, and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication, teamwork, and project coordination abilities.
Willingness to travel for machine installation, commissioning, and customer support.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience designing laser cutting, laser welding, laser marking, laser cleaning, CNC, or other precision manufacturing equipment.
Knowledge of industrial robots such as FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa, KUKA, or Universal Robots.
Experience integrating machine vision systems and automated production equipment.
Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA), motion simulation, and structural analysis.
Knowledge of stainless steel fabrication, sheet metal design, welded structures, and precision machining.
Understanding of machine safety standards, CE requirements, and risk assessment principles.
Experience with Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, and automated production systems.
