Job Description
This is not a traditional contract management role.
This is an end-to-end commercial contracting role for someone who owns the whole contract lifecycle, shaping the contracting strategy, drafting and structuring the terms themselves, and leading the negotiation to closure across a few hundred procurement contracts a year, in a lean team, at high pace.
It suits someone who enjoys making deals happen, from strategizing to drafting the terms to negotiating the close, and who takes pride in getting the details right and knows how to move quickly and balance the risks to land the business outcome.
The role requires balancing (i) Speed vs Risk (ii) Volume vs Quality (iii) Execution vs Strategic Impact
Approximate Scope Breakdown
- 60–70% — High-volume renewals and standard contracts. Fast paced drafting and negotiation: repetitive, high-tempo, often behind the scenes but every contract still has to be well drafted, properly executed at speed. This is the high-volume engine of the role: demanding, not always glamorous, but central to keeping the business running.
- 30–40% — Strategic, high-value, and complex contracts, including RFPs and external vendor negotiations, where the contracting strategy and the drafting genuinely move the commercial outcome.
Responsibilities

- Translate business needs into clear, enforceable, practical terms, applying strong commercial judgement
- Lead supplier negotiations to achieve commercially favourable, risk-balanced outcomes
- No.2. Contract Strategy & Execution>
- Lead contract management from intake to execution across a high volume of contracts, driving to closure with expediency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business users, InfoSec, Tax, Data Privacy, Risk & Compliance) to map requirements to business objectives
- Assess alignment with Legal, reconcile gaps between stakeholder needs and contract goals, and drive external negotiations to closure
- Manage a high volume of renewals on time
- No.3. Risk Management & Compliance>
- Ensure contracts comply with legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements
- Identify risks and propose practical mitigation, not just escalation
- Prioritise material risks over low-impact issues to support faster execution
- No.4. Stakeholder & Vendor Management>
- Align Procurement, Legal, and business users on contract strategy and risk positions
- Consolidate inputs from multiple stakeholders and influence them to balance speed, risk, and commercial objectives
- Build strong vendor relationships, act as primary contact for contract matters, and drive vendor performance and accountability
- No.5. Post-Contract Management>
- Support renewals, amendments, contract governance, and the stamping process
- Manage disputes negotiations and performance issues where required
- Ensure continuity and proper contractual coverage for ongoing engagements
- No.6. Process Improvement & Digital Savvy
- Identify lifecycle bottlenecks and implement improvements
- Develop and enhance contract templates, playbooks, and standard clauses
- Leverage tools and technology (SmartSuite, automation, AI workflows, Excel) to improve efficiency
- Use data and simple analytics to track performance and drive improvements
Requirements
Experience Needed:
- Min 10 years in commercial contract management. Legal background preferred
- Experience handling commercial contracts (procurement, IT, services, Enterprise Business, network leasing, etc.)
- Enterprise Business: managing back-to-back alignment (customer vs supplier), identifying gaps in obligations, risk exposure, and commercial mismatches
- Network / Infrastructure: handling network leasing, access agreements, or infrastructure contracts, with awareness of operational, commercial, and regulatory dependencies
- Exposure to technology, IT, or software licence contracts is beneficial.
- The ability to learn at speed and operate across multiple contract categories is essential; applying past knowledge to pick up new domains quickly will help you thrive here.
