Position Summary
Responsible for component lifecycle and PCN management, as well as the selection, qualification, application, failure analysis, and documentation management of components, materials, and chemicals, together with supplier evaluation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage component lifecycle activities including obsolescence tracking, End-of-Life (EOL) and Product Discontinuation (PDN) notifications.
- Review and assess supplier Product Change Notifications (PCNs), coordinate cross-functional impact analysis (engineering, quality, manufacturing), and ensure timely implementation and documentation of approved changes.
- Support data extraction and market intelligence activities, including collection of industry and commercial data (e.g. component pricing and lead times) for components and materials registered in the ERP system.
- Support the maintenance and governance of material database, including classification, characterization, standardization, and data integrity of electronic components, materials, and chemicals.
- Provide technical expertise on component and material-related matters, including datasheet interpretation, component selection, alternate part recommendations, application guidance, failure analysis, storage and handling requirements, and coordination of engineering queries (EQs) from suppliers.
- Develop component and material selection, qualification, and application guidelines; establish test methodologies and qualification requirements to support reliable product design and supplier approval activities.
- Support the robust and reliable design-in/sustaining of components by providing technical guidance on component selection, lifecycle status, regulatory compliance, and supply assurance considerations.
- Lead component failure investigations, identify root causes and failure mechanisms, develop corrective actions, and support reliability validation and risk mitigation activities for critical components.
- Assess supplier technical capabilities, support supplier selection for key components, and conduct supplier audits or technical visits when required.
