Career growth is a bit slow at Agate
Working at Agate, especially as a Software Engineer in the San Francisco office, has its moments. But honestly, if you're looking for strong career growth, it's a bit of a challenge. The day-to-day is fine, but moving up feels unclear.
My manager was pretty solid; we had good weekly 1:1s, which helps. There are some internal learning sessions you can join, which is a plus for a mid-sized tech company that values continuous learning.
It's really tough to see a clear promotion path here for software development roles. You kinda just have to wait for someone to leave, or really fight for new projects. The hybrid work model is okay, but doesn't change the lack of clear advancement.
Create clearer, more transparent growth paths for individual contributors, especially for software development roles. Invest more in internal training and mentorship programs.
