Job purpose

The Public Policy Manager will support ISDA’s Asia Pacific Public Policy function in advancing the Association’s advocacy priorities and engagement with policymakers, regulatory authorities, and market participants. The role will contribute to the monitoring, analysis, and communication of legislative, regulatory, and prudential developments affecting derivatives markets, including capital and prudential reform initiatives relevant to the region.

The role requires strong analytical capability, with the ability to assess regulatory and economic developments and their implications for ISDA and its members, and to support senior colleagues in the delivery of ISDA’s regional and global public policy strategy

Duties and responsibilities


Public Policy and Advocacy

  • Support the delivery of ISDA’s Asia Pacific public policy agenda through policy research, regulatory analysis, and advocacy support aligned with regional and global priorities.
  • Contribute to workstreams related to prudential and capital reforms, including analysing regulatory proposals and supporting internal coordination on these issues.
  • Assist with the preparation of policy materials, briefing notes, and consultation responses to support engagement with regulators, policymakers, and ISDA members.
  • Support senior colleagues in identifying emerging policy issues and assessing their potential impact on derivatives markets and ISDA membership.

Relationships and Stakeholder Support

  • Work collaboratively across ISDA to support public policy engagement, including coordination with Legal, Risk, Operations, and other relevant teams.
  • Support external engagement with regulatory authorities, members, and committees through meeting preparation, documentation, and follow‑up.
  • Attend regulatory meetings, briefings, and industry events, as appropriate, to support ISDA’s engagement and information‑gathering activities.

Legislative, Regulatory, and Prudential Monitoring

  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and prudential developments across Asia Pacific relevant to derivatives markets, including capital and prudential frameworks.
  • Track and maintain accurate records of regulatory initiatives, consultations, and policy developments, including reforms originating in the US, UK, and EU with potential Asia Pacific implications.
  • Prepare concise internal updates, summaries, and briefing materials for the Public Policy team and relevant stakeholders.
  • Support research into regulatory trends, policy developments, and economic or market issues affecting ISDA members.
  • Ensure effective organisation and management of information to support team access and institutional knowledge.


Communication and Reporting:

  • Prepare research notes, policy summaries, and analytical materials to support internal and external communications.
  • Contribute to the drafting of briefing papers and reports by synthesising regulatory, prudential, and market developments alongside member input.
  • Support clear and consistent information flows within the Asia Pacific Public Policy team regarding regulatory and policy developments.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical material, reports, and data analysis as required.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, postgraduate qualification in economics, political science, law, public policy, or a related discipline desirable.
  • Further financial qualifications an advantage.


Relevant Skills/ Abilities

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess regulatory, prudential, and economic developments.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in prudential regulation, capital frameworks, or financial stability issues is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured, and well‑reasoned policy materials.
  • Ability to work effectively across jurisdictions and regulatory environments.
  • Strong organisational and information‑management skills.
  • Comfort using digital and analytical tools, including emerging AI‑based research and drafting tools, to support policy analysis and information management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficiency in regional languages such as Mandarin and/or Korean is desirable


Experience

  • Typically, 3–5 years’ experience in public policy, regulatory affairs, economics, legal, legislative, or financial services environments.
  • Experience or exposure to prudential regulation, capital frameworks, or regulatory policy affecting banking or derivatives markets is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with global regulatory developments (e.g. US, UK, EU) and their regional implications is desirable.
  • Experience within a regulatory or supervisory authority is an advantage but not required.
