Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and review transaction alerts generated by the transaction monitoring system for potential money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions risk.
- Investigate flagged transactions and client activity, gathering supporting information and documenting analysis and rationale.
- Prepare and file suspicious transaction reports (STRs) with the Joint Financial Intelligence Unit (JFIU) and support the MLRO in related decisions.
- Escalate material findings and typologies to the AML team / MLRO and recommend account actions where appropriate.
- Maintain complete investigation records, case files and STR logs to audit and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to AML risk assessments, management reporting, and responses to regulatory and audit reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Law or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' transaction monitoring / AML investigation experience within an SFC-licensed corporation, bank or financial institution in Hong Kong.
- Solid knowledge of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance (Cap. 615), the SFC AML/CFT Guideline and STR reporting obligations.
- Practical experience conducting alert investigations and preparing STRs / filings to the JFIU.
- Understanding of money laundering typologies, red flags and sanctions requirements relevant to securities trading.
- Strong analytical, investigative and report-writing skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficiency in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin).
- Experience in an online brokerage or fintech environment with high transaction volumes
