We are seeking a talented individual to join our Wealth Team. This role will be based in Hong Kong, and supports actuarial services for our pension clients in Asia.

Mercer’s retirement consulting team provides actuarial advice to institutional pension clients on appropriate defined contribution (DC) scheme designs, governance, and defined benefit (DB) scheme liability valuations. We pride ourselves as globally recognized, leading expert on a wide range of actuarial and pension related topics, such as actuarial modelling, pension scheme designs and governance.

As a Senior Retirement Consulting Analyst, you have the opportunity to interact and support clients across Asia on consulting projects under supervision of Consultants. You are expected to be self-motivated, initiate to resolve problems independently, and contribute as a team under guidance from senior members.

We will count on you to:

  • Assist in actuarial valuations and scheme designs for local and global pension plans, as well as experience analysis (e.g. assumed vs realized turnover) to facilitate assumption setting process.
  • Support probabilistic cash flow modelling using actuarial modelling techniques for pension schemes on a project basis.
  • Provide high-quality calculations/ comparative analytics/ survey findings/ pension related advice in a time efficient manner.
  • Digest and keep up with local and global regulatory changes (e.g. MPFA regulations and ORSO ordinance) that impact financial wellness in relation to investment and retirement matters.
  • Participate in the full cycle of client projects through independent research, data analysis, MPF/ORSO scheme provider selection, drafting written reports, preparing proposals, and attending client meetings.
  • Assist in researching global pension market trends and product offerings. Prepare ad-hoc marketing materials to support business development initiatives and proposals.
  • Provide timely updates on developments in pension landscape to the team.
  • Deal with ad hoc projects and enquiries in relation to Mercer tools, advisory, solutions and other Mercer business lines.
  • Work with different offices and teams across the broader Mercer Wealth business in Asia and globally.

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree graduate with solid academic track record, preferably in numerate subjects such as Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Engineering and Mathematics.
  • In pursuit of an actuarial or CFA qualification.
  • Some knowledge in pension systems in Hong Kong and Asia preferred.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills. Comfortable with conducting complex comparative analysis with large datasets in an efficient manner.
  • Excited to utilise your technical skill on a consulting environment with strong communication and problem solving skill.
  • Self-motivated, attention to details, organized and ability to multi-tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with Excel and PowerPoint. VBA, Python, R or other programming language a plus.
  • Fluent written and verbal presentation in English and Cantonese. Mandarin would be a plus.
