An Introduction to the EMHP Programme at UEA The EMHP Programme at UEA uses blended learning, comprised of face-to-face teaching at UEA and online teaching, self-directed study days and supervised practice within employing MHSTs to allow trainees to develop the required clinical competence and confidence relevant to the role of an EMHP. Our team have extensive experience of working psychologically with children and young people across a range of settings and interventions. The teaching team includes lecturers with experience of delivering low intensity mental health interventions - who can use their experience to support, model and teach these skills positively alongside those with expertise in the field of children and young peoples mental health and education. We also use a range of external Associate Tutors and Guest lecturers to support teaching. Throughout the year are a range of assessments and assignments to demonstrate learning outcomes and assess clinical skills and competency. In addition to learning the theory and practice for delivering evidence-based low intensity assessments and treatments for children and young people, taught modules will cover how to work in, understand the processes of, and engage with education settings. This is afull-time training programme which requires the successful completion of each of the 6 modules outlined below, as well as a portfolio evidencing clinical practice competencies Module 1 Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Settings: Context and Values Module 2 Assessment & Engagement Module 3 Evidence-based Interventions for Common Mental Health Problems with Children and Young People (Theory and Skills) Module 4 Working, Assessing and Engaging in Educational Settings Module 5 Common Problems and Processes in Educational Settings Module 6 Interventions for Emerging Mental Health Difficulties in Educational Settings On successful completion of the course, trainees will qualify as an Educational Mental Health Practitioner with a Diploma / PG Diploma (120 credits). Key Dates and Attendance There are 70 teaching days across the calendar year with some intensive teaching blocks early in the course. These include cross modular/induction activities and top up/review sessions. Employment with NELFT will begin on Tuesday 2nd January, where you will start a 2 week induction. The Course start date for 2024 will be Tuesday 14th January. The role sits within the Essex Social Care Academy (ESCA) which provides a strong team of support enabling those working in social care to grow and thrive throughout their careers.

The Opportunity

Essex County Council is achieving transformational change across Adult Social Care and Children and Families Services, underpinned by delivery of high-quality practice and a culture of collaboration, integrity and compassion. The development of a professional, knowledgeable and skilled workforce is central to achieving practice improvement and driving change; delivered by a joint Essex Social Care Academy service which meets the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) needs of both professional areas.

The Practice Education Development Lead will oversee the practice education agenda by providing practice learning opportunities for social work students undertaking BA (Hons) and/or MA, MSc master's degree. Maintaining oversight of national policy and practice initiatives and undertaking research to ensure an excellent quality of practice education. Identifying learning needs and recommending appropriate learning solutions, aligned to professional skills frameworks and key Council objectives.

An experienced social work practitioner, with experience in managing a complex caseload and the capacity and knowledge to mentor and advise staff, manage performance and deliver improvements. Building strong working relationships and a thorough and in-depth understanding of adult learning theories is essential, as is evidence of successfully delivery and development of workforce projects and initiatives.

Accountabilities

Responsible for translating the developing Workforce Development strategy into a Practice Education programme, to ensure a high level of quality and professional development for social care, to support recruitment, retention, and development.

Work closely with operational service managers to promote and support the development of practice education, identifying learning needs and development solutions across social care.

Proactively develop links and working relationships with partnership agencies, HEI's and national bodies, to develop integrated practice learning opportunities leading to high quality practice education across the council.

Work collaboratively across the service to develop and manage processes and practice education, to build capacity for workforce planning, providing regular progress reports to senior management, groups and boards.

Responsible for overseeing and monitoring financial and budgetary review of practice education spend.

Maintain currency with national, regional and local practice education priorities by researching best practice, networking, attending conferences and/or meetings as appropriate.

Responsible for ensuring systems are in place to safeguard practice placements, quality assure and evaluate practice learning opportunities, by attending HEIs practice assessment panels.

Lead on delivering the practice education programme, ensuring that internal Continuing Professional Development programmes (either function specific or broader) and development planning, commissioning and delivery processes are integrated, to reflect commissioned outcomes and align with Partner programmes.

Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.

The Experience You Will Bring

• A recognised social work qualification i.e. Diploma, degree or Masters in social work, CQSW, CSS or equivalent, with current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a registered social worker.

• Evidence of continuing professional development, aligned to any relevant Professional Competency/Capability frameworks or Knowledge and Skills Statements.

• Significant experience of social work, demonstrating a comprehensive and up to date understanding of all relevant legislation, regulation and guidance.

• Experience of mentoring both Social Work students and newly qualified and experienced Social Work staff, being a subject matter expert in professional social work

• An experienced practice educator qualified to PEPS2 standard or equivalent

• Evidence of developing strong relationships with partners and external agencies, which are collaborative in nature and engender joint delivery.

What could my day look like?

What skills and experience we're looking for

Currently, the Physical Education Department consists of four full-time members of staff, two Sport Coaches and a dedicated member of support staff.

In the Lower School (Years 7-9), pupils are taught within their Form groups and receive five 50-minute periods of PE per fortnight. We cover a wide range of sporting activities including rugby, football, cross country, badminton, health-related exercise, basketball, gymnastics, tennis, athletics and cricket.

In the Middle School (Years 10 and 11), all pupils receive a Games afternoon and a single PE lesson as part of our core offer. A significant number of pupils elect to study Physical Education at GCSE Level. These pupils increase their allocation to eight periods.

An extensive programme of extra-curricular activities exists including before school, lunchtime and after school practices. Competitive fixtures take place after school and on Saturdays. We are proud to offer such a wide range of sport for pupils wishing to represent the School or participate recreationally.

CURRICULUM AND RESULTS

The Physical Education Department has produced exceptionally strong examination results at GCSE and Advanced Level during recent years with a number of our students going on to study Sport Sciences at some of the top sporting universities in the country, including Loughborough, Bath and Exeter.

In Summer 2023, 50% of candidates at A Level were awarded A* or A grades. These figures are considerably above the national average.

GCSE numbers in Physical Education are consistently high with almost one third of the cohort regularly opting to study the subject. In Summer 2023, 69% of pupils received 7-9 grades.

The Examination Board used for both GCSE and Advanced Level is EDUQAS.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR SPORT

Sport is an important part of life at WHSB. There is immense potential within our community which we actively strive to facilitate. We are passionate about sport and value the role it plays in promoting healthy lifestyles, instilling discipline, fostering effective communication, enhancing leadership qualities and developing character. All of which contribute to the overall ethos of WHSB.

We are proud of our sporting values and results in both fixtures and examinations. The successful candidate must seek to build on this success. The School is strong in athletics regularly reaching the National Track & Field Cup Finals and finishing in 2nd place in the Intermediate Boys in 2023. Regionally, we have had great recent success in basketball regularly reaching the knockout stages of the Essex Cup and Borough Champions in both year 8 and year 10. TEACHER OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Job Purpose:

The teacher is required to carry out the general professional duties of a school teacher under the reasonable direction of the Head of Department and Headmaster and to perform such particular duties that from time to time which may reasonably be assigned him/her by the Headmaster. Teachers on the Upper Pay Scale (UPS) will be expected to make broader contribution to the School as a normal part of their work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following responsibilities are included in the professional duties which the teacher is required to perform:

General Duties:

Pastoral Care:

Teachers will act as Form Tutors under the direction of a Progress Leader and Head of School/Director of Sixth Form and they will:

• be ‘in loco parentis’, responsible for the welfare of pupils in the Form and the first point of contact for those seeking help or guidance or wishing to express concern;
• take an interest in the personal circumstances and development of each pupil in the designated Form Group, in his/her happiness and security, and to be available for advice or consultation with parents as well as provide comments on Reports, and to handle correspondence;
• promote the academic progress and well-being of individual pupils and any Form Group, class or group, ensuring consistent feedback is given, which guides pupils. Discussing Reports and supporting self-evaluation activities with the designated Form Group;
• providing tutees with guidance and advice on educational, careers and social matters, monitoring their welfare and making relevant records and reports (including reference and personal profiles) in accordance with the School’s policies. If necessary, directing pupils to sources of more expert advice on specific questions;
• ensure that the Form Group’s Pupil Planners are kept up to date and to ensure they are used effectively by pupils including as a means of parent(s)/School communication;
• promote the Learner Profile and high standards of behaviour, attendance, punctuality and attitudes to work.
• ensure that pupils’ dress and appearance conform to the requirements set out in the Code of Conduct;

SPORTING FACILITIES

The School has excellent sporting facilities which are used by the pupils before school, at lunchtimes, after school and at weekends. These include a four-court, multi-purpose Sports Hall with four-lane cricket nets, full-size basketball court with a spectator gallery. In this role, you will play a crucial part in reducing road casualties across Essex by implementing and supporting educational programs and interventions. As an Education Officer your responsibilities will include but not limited to

• Supporting the implementation of policies and procedures of the wider Essex Highways management systems, e.g. Health and Safety, Environmental, Quality, Construction Design to minimise work related injuries.
• Responding to complaints to meet relevant targets and provide high performance standards.
• Work as part of a road safety interventions delivery team providing education and awareness raising interventions to both children and adults.
• Work closely with partners by providing public facing interventions to support agreed activities to maximise the success of enforcement and current road safety campaigns
• Develop and maintain collaborative links with other agencies, interest groups, businesses, schools, colleges and other educational establishments, agencies dealing with people not in education, training or employment, and those involved with disadvantaged and vulnerable communities to develop strong partnerships for targeted road casualty reduction
• Contribute to the development of appropriate educational materials, including literature and other promotional/engagement aids, to support the partnership in liaison with the County Council and Essex Police communications teams.
• Act as an expert witness at Crown Court, Public Inquiries and Hearings as required; preparing detailed evidence as a specialist on practice issues, liaising with Counsel and Solicitors in case preparation.

The Experience You Will Bring

• Educated to RQF Level 3 ('A' level) or equivalent by experience in Highways.
• Evidence of continuing professional development and knowledge in relevant professional area. Membership of, or working towards, a relevant Professional Institution is desirable.
• Knowledge and application of Highway and Health and Safety legislation, including Construction (Design and Management) regulations.
