The purpose of the team is to Provide evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate mental health issues. Support the mental health lead in each education setting to introduce or develop their whole school or college approach. Give timely advice to school and college staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education. An Introduction to the EMHP Programme at UEA The EMHP Programme at UEA uses blended learning, comprised of face-to-face teaching at UEA and online teaching, self-directed study days and supervised practice within employing MHSTs to allow trainees to develop the required clinical competence and confidence relevant to the role of an EMHP. Our team have extensive experience of working psychologically with children and young people across a range of settings and interventions. The teaching team includes lecturers with experience of delivering low intensity mental health interventions - who can use their experience to support, model and teach these skills positively alongside those with expertise in the field of children and young peoples mental health and education. We also use a range of external Associate Tutors and Guest lecturers to support teaching. Throughout the year are a range of assessments and assignments to demonstrate learning outcomes and assess clinical skills and competency. In addition to learning the theory and practice for delivering evidence-based low intensity assessments and treatments for children and young people, taught modules will cover how to work in, understand the processes of, and engage with education settings. This is afull-time training programme which requires the successful completion of each of the 6 modules outlined below, as well as a portfolio evidencing clinical practice competencies Module 1 Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Settings: Context and Values Module 2 Assessment & Engagement Module 3 Evidence-based Interventions for Common Mental Health Problems with Children and Young People (Theory and Skills) Module 4 Working, Assessing and Engaging in Educational Settings Module 5 Common Problems and Processes in Educational Settings Module 6 Interventions for Emerging Mental Health Difficulties in Educational Settings On successful completion of the course, trainees will qualify as an Educational Mental Health Practitioner with a Diploma / PG Diploma (120 credits). Key Dates and Attendance There are 70 teaching days across the calendar year with some intensive teaching blocks early in the course. These include cross modular/induction activities and top up/review sessions. Employment with NELFT will begin on Tuesday 2nd January, where you will start a 2 week induction. The role of an Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP)) is a shared initiative between the Department of Education and Department ofHealth and supports the governments priority to increase access of mental health and well-beingsupport for children and young people. The Wellbeing Team is an emotional wellbeing pathway which is part of Camden CAMHS Service. The Wellbeing Team provides evidence-based CBT and parenting interventions to children and families with mild to moderate mental health concerns via: Assessment and formulation of mild to moderate mental health concernsBrief, evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural TherapyGroup interventions for parents and young people including the Incredible Years Group 1:1 guided self-help parenting interventions Personalised individual parenting interventions The team includes 3 CWPs, 4 Trainee CWPs, a parenting practitioner, CBT Therapists, a supervisor and service lead. This intensive training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for parents and families using the core principles of the CYP Psychological Training Programme and consistent with the evidence base in parenting intervention including The Incredible Years Group Programme and Personalised Individual Parent Training (PIPT). The post-holder will work in the service, for at least 2.5 days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst attending the training programme or undertaking self-study days for the remaining days, as required by the education provider. Discuss with supervisors and agree to accept appropriate referrals for children and young people in educational settings, according to agreed local and national and local referral routes, processes and procedures. Under supervision, undertake accurate assessments of risk to self and others. Learn, understand, rationalise and adhere to the protocols within the educational service to which the postholder is attached. Engage along with more senior staff in the signposting of referrals for children and young people with more complex needs to the relevant service. Engage in robust managerial and clinical supervision, identifying the scope of practice of the individual postholder within the role, and working safely within that scope. Gain and practice a range of interventions related to provision of information and support for evidence based psychological treatments. Be supervised, supported and assessed to deliver a range of low intensity interventions for mild to moderate mental health difficulties in CYP; primarily guided self-help delivered to either YP directly or through their parent(s)/carer(s) but also group work and workshops.
